blogging while on the bus

(funny, i have to stay up to date with the world of Dunder Mifflin…)
today i gave a presentation on remote services and second life at my alma mater. it was pretty surreal to stand up in the front of the room, in front of a prof and TA that i really admire, and, well, teach. (my partner in crime was one of my mentors, so i was a bit unnerved at teaching with someone as successful as her. think i did okay.)
the presentation went well and the students seemed pretty engaged (at least they laughed at the appropriate times).
but there was so much more i wanted to tell them! it was all i could do to not spill my guts about why though they may not be thrilled with their classes, that this was not indicative of the LIS field. that if they were bored with an assignment they should spice it up and challenge themselves! that it is imperative they become comfortable speaking to groups about important things. mostly, that they can’t say they don’t like something unless they have tried it cuz there are enough anti-change agents in libraries already and if they are going to get a master’s degree just to maintain the status quo that’s a waste of their potential.
but i couldn’t get into all they cuz we were talking about remote services.
i guess that’s what this blog is for.
(i can’t believe i typed all this with just my thumb!)
I wish I could have seen your talk – I hear it was awesome. Rock on!
